Stanbridge University has once again been named one of the #1 Vet Tech schools.
In a search for the 20 best vet tech schools in California in 2021, Best Value Schools recognized Stanbridge University as the #1 Vet Assistant and Vet Tech Program in the state.
Awarding the school an impressive 88 points – beating out competing schools with less high scores – the publication noted:
Stanbridge University offers undergraduate courses in veterinary technology and is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association. They offer educational service that’s highly rewarding and is leading in healing and caring for animals.
- Tuition: approximately $12,352 per year
- Graduation Rate: 81%
- Acceptance Rate: 32%
- VTNE Pass Rate: 86%, 3-year average from 2017 to 2020
Now, more than ever, Vet Techs are needed to care for and help animals heal and recover.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, “As the number of households with pets and spending on pets continues to rise, demand is expected to increase for veterinary technologists and technicians to do laboratory work and imaging services on household pets.”
Working under the direction and supervision of a licensed veterinarian, vet techs improve the health and wellness of dogs, cats, exotic pets, lab animals, farm animals, and zoo animals by assisting in their care and their medical procedures. One can become a vet tech by applying to an accredited Vet Tech program.
Some of the tasks Vet Techs can do when caring for animals are:
- Conducting animal examinations
- Providing emergency first-aid
- Administering anesthesia and monitoring responses
- Performing x-rays and other lab tests
- Preparing animals for surgery
- Administering medications and vaccinations
Veterinary Technicians are on the front lines of animal care and are expected to be there when the owners cannot.
