Best NY Online Sportsbooks and New York Sports Betting Sites for 2022

Legal online sports betting in NY used to be a dream, but after January 2022’s New York sports betting revolution, the Empire State is no longer in the dark.

With sites coming online by the week, the fierce competition made deep site study a necessity, and we’ve done just that to create our list of best online sportsbooks in NY.

We’ve looked at the lines, read all the fine print, and used each site to rank the top NY sportsbooks so you, the player, can find the bookie that’s best for you.

Let’s get into it.

Best Online Sportsbooks NY

1. DraftKings — Best NY Sportsbook Overall

Pros:

  • Excellent mobile app
  • Wide range of sports and bets
  • Free bet for first-time depositors
  • Epic fantasy sports offerings
  • Constantly odds boosts

Cons:

  • Could improve juice

After having pioneered the modern online sports fantasy industry, it’s only natural that DraftKings would take their reputation to online sportsbooks in NY.

What we have here is a modern, intuitive, and variety-happy online sports betting site that entices New York players with a great bonus and promises promos for years to come.

Sportsbook Variety: 5/5

It goes without saying that a sportsbook giant like DraftKings would offer standard moneyline, totals, and spread bets. What really sets them apart, though, is their amazing variety of player props, futures, alternate lines, and in-play options.

That said, since DraftKings is so dominant in the field, the odds here are average at best, so consider it a tax for using one of the most user-friendly sports gambling sites online.

They do, however, offer some of the best same game parlay offers, ideal for players looking to jack up the excitement of any big NY game they’re watching.

Bonuses and Promos: 4.5/5

NY sports bettors used to 100% matches won’t be blown away by the 20% bonus up to $1,000 offered at Draftkings, but we like this for two reasons: bigger bankroll players get a chance to have a higher dollar offer, and with a $5 min deposit, it’s more inclusive to small ball players.

The 5x playthrough is industry standard, though we’re a fan of being able to earn off the bonus in the sportsbook, casino, and fantasy sports site concurrently. New York sports fans who love to vary their gambling will find a great home here.

Another thing that stands out is their massive $5k free bet match for players depositing $1,000 or more. We’re not sure we’ve seen a bigger free bet offer anywhere, but new players should act quickly as it looks like a site launch promo that might not be on offer forever.

Payments: 4/5

Offshore sports bettors may be a bit surprised to see just 9 payment methods here, but the usual suspects of Visa/Mastercard, online banking PayPal, bank wire, and gift card should get most players by without trouble.

We weren’t all that impressed with the ‘within 5 business days’ policy on withdrawal processing, but in the world of legal NY sportsbooks, this is by no means rare.

In addition to the methods above, checks are also available as a withdrawal method.

Mobile App Functionality: 4.5/5

The first thing we do when we download a sportsbook app is scroll through it and place a couple of small bets to test out the functionality. What we found here was a slick, lag-free app that offered virtually the same betting experience as their desktop version.

Parlay lovers should know that the same game parlay function from the desktop version is not available in the mobile app, but aside from this, we found the usual lines.

It should also be noted that the sportsbook app is separate from the casino/fantasy sports app, so multiple downloads are necessary. That said, there’s only one account required for both.

2. Caesars — Best New York Sports Betting Site for Mobile Betting

Pros:

  • Solid futures offers
  • Great American sports menu
  • One of the best casinos online
  • Unquestionable reputation
  • Free bets for first-time players
  • Also has tons of casino games

Cons:

  • Not too many secondary sports betting markets

One of Las Vegas’ most recognizable names has been offering sportsbook lines dating back to the 1960’s – and NY sports bettors can join in on the fun with their resort-wide loyalty program, huge sports menu focused on American sports, and one of the best free bet offers in the business.

Sportsbook Variety: 4/5

This isn’t one of those New York betting sites that are going to allow you to bet on British cheese rolling, or even offer a huge amount of exciting player props in American sports, for that matter.

Caesars is a straight-shooting sportsbook that has respectable totals, moneyline, and spread bets across all the major leagues.

Expect to see a great menu of boosts for the major sports as well.

The juice at Caesars is about average, though where they stand out compared to other industry giants is their ability to keep lines at -110 instead of taking off a buck.

Bonuses and Promos: 4.5/5

It could be easy for Caesars Sportsbook NY to rely on their reputation to get NY bettors in the door, but we were pleasantly surprised to see a wealth of registration bonus offers here – starting with their 100% match up to $1500 free bet offer that applies on any first deposit over $50.

This one token offer (meaning, it can’t be split across 2+ games) is a great way to get a bankroll base. Just make sure you make your deposit within 72 hours, or the offer is null and void.

Beyond this, recently registered small bankroll players will love getting six free $50 bets just for wagering a bet of exactly $20. There are also fantastic NBA and NHL offers, as well as same game parlay boosts and much more.

Payments: 4/5

Online banking, Mastercard, Visa, PayNearMe, PayPal, and some prepaid card options like the Caesars Sportsbook Prepaid Play+ Card are available here.

It’s a fine mix, though Mastercard and Visa depositors should know that Caesars only accepts debit cards (no credit), as New York regulators have capped credit cards at $2500 yearly.

Small bankroll players may also find the $20 deposit minimum to be slightly high.

We’re really happy with the withdrawal policy here, though – a relatively quick 72-hour turnover for verified accounts is one of the best New York sportsbook payout times going.

Mobile App Functionality: 4.5/5

This is basically everything you can ask for in NY sports betting apps – a slick yet understated design tinged with their familiar golds and greens that’s bright but not overwhelming.

Scrolling through this online sports betting app is as easy as it is fluid. The simple drop-down lines menu, populated by sports only with current markets up to decrease clutter, is arguably faster and easier to place bets than its desktop cousin.

In fact, we were able to fire together some pretty stacked parlays in an effort to test out the guts of the app, and we found no lag to speak of.

The app is fully functional and can stand on its own – this isn’t just a compliment to the main site.

3. BetMGM — Best New York Online Sports Betting Site for Bet Boosts

Pros:

  • Huge variety of bet types
  • ‘Edit My Bet’ feature
  • Long list of promos
  • Large free bet bonus for new players
  • Industry leading reputation

Cons:

  • Website could be simplified

The MGM logo is right there on the side of the biggest hotel in Las Vegas, and you could argue that there’s no bigger name in the business than the glitz and glam of this industry pioneer.

Their sportsbook is off to a great start in New York with a series of fantastic promotions, unique bet types, and one of the best lines menus online.

Sportsbook Variety: 4.5/5

BetMGM’s ‘specials’ menu grabbed our attention immediately, bringing us to a fine selection of boosted cross-sport parlays, which we think is ideal for New York players more than any other gambler due to the sheer number of pro teams in the state.

People looking for more diverse action will also love how sports like golf, MMA, and boxing tend to feature almost as much as the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL.

We can’t pump them up from an odds standpoint, though – the juice here is in line with all the other best New York sports betting operators.

There’s not a lot of value in their moneyline, spread, and totals bets but that’s pretty much par for the course in legal New York online sports betting. Their lineup of promos and award-winning M Life Rewards loyalty program more than makes up for it, anyway.

Looking for prop bets? We also found BetMGM to have one of the most in-depth menus going when it comes to all the NY sports betting sites.

Bonuses and Promos: 4.5/5

You could call BetMGM’s first deposit bonus industry standard, but we’ll go one better and say their $1000 free bet match is one of the better offers going for New York sports betting.

First of all, the welcome bonus applies to deposits as little as $10 which is great for small ball players. Second, with deposits over $50, the free bet is released in five 20% increments, which maximizes the free entertainment value across more games.

BetMGM also knows the value of local teams. In fact, they’ll get you to name your favorite NY sports teams so they can customize game offers to your tastes – homer bet lovers, take notice!

We’re also big suckers for unique offers, and here, their ‘Edit My Bet’ feature allowing players to increase stakes or even add and remove games to straight bet and parlay bets is a stroke of genius, and something we haven’t seen before.

Payments: 3.9/5

Mastercard, Visa, online banking, ApplePay, PayPal, and BetMGM Prepaid Play+ are the payment methods that can get you up and running at BetMGM.

Yes, it’s a fairly low total but in looking at other more established gambling states, it’s surely only a matter of time before they add more.

On the withdrawal side, the ‘3-5 business days’ promise made on payouts isn’t exactly anything to get excited about. That said, they’re pretty quick with e-wallets. Promising 24 hours for a PayPal withdrawal is about as good as it gets at legal New York sports betting sites.

Another small thing: it may be slightly annoying, but for compliance purposes, BetMGM reserves the right to cashback to your original deposit method before any other on your account.

Mobile App Functionality: 4/5

BetMGM’s dedicated app, available for all Android and iOS devices, is arguably better than its desktop version for the simple reason that it’s simplified. While the desktop version almost has so many bets that it gets cluttered, we felt totally in control on both phones and tablets.

The app, with MGM’s typical black and gold slickness, isn’t overwhelming to the eyes and offers lag-free scrollings and intuitive menus to get you to the market you need.

We also found the live betting version (a must for watching the game out at stadiums and bars) to be on par with the website version of BetMGM.

4. PointsBet — Best Promos & Bonuses

Pros:

  • Constant promos
  • Unique betting option ‘PointsBetting’
  • Huge welcome bonus
  • Sleek and functional mobile version

Cons:

  • Betting is potentially more volatile

The slogan of PointsBet says it all: the more you’re right, the more you win. Consider this type of sportsbook action to be similar to the stock market, with the ability to win increasing multiples on your original investment – which has huge appeal for players looking to increase the excitement.

Sportsbook Variety: 4.5/5

There’s an incredibly unique betting proposition at PointsBet: in short, the more you’re right the more you win. With their PointsBetting system, you can literally compound cash on top of typical totals and spreads bets.

Let’s say you take a quarterback to throw over 240 yards in a game. In any normal circumstance, you’d be paid out based on the line. Here, you get paid more with every yard they throw over.

Of course, we should warn you, however, that in addition to winning more when you’re right, you also stand to lose more when you’re wrong. Action lovers can’t find a better proposition here, while more cautious cappers may want to stay away.

Beyond this, they’ve got a very solid sportsbook menu that offers all the traditional straight bets, spread bets, props, totals, and more – often at reduced juice prices. Yes, we found more -105 lines on both sides early than your typical bookies, so value hunters – take notice!

Bonuses and Promos: 5/5

When you’re the new kid on the NY sportsbook block, you’ve gotta make a splash and PointsBet does just that by offering not one, but two first deposit bonuses for a total of $2000.

The first, an up to $500 free bet on your first fixed bet, is a great way to get the bankroll going. That said, it’s the second (up to) $1500 free bet on your first PointsBetter wager where the true money can be made.

We also loved the simplicity of their $20 free bet on NFL playoff games, and expect this to be a sign of things to come for the big national events.

Parlay lovers will also love their Parlay Boost promo, which includes two daily parlay boosts (one same game, one traditional) that have no max payout nor a max bet limit.

Payments: 4/5

Expect a standard offering that includes Mastercard, Visa, PayPal, PayNearMe, and online banking.

This isn’t a huge list but should be ample enough, even if they lack the cash deposit options of other states – though we imagine it’s only a matter of time until they partner with a brick and mortar casino to get it up and running.

Withdrawal options are more limited. Credit and debit cards are not permitted to cash out, so you’ll have to use online banking, PayPal, or eCheck.

PointsBet guarantees payout processing within 48 hours, which is above average.

Mobile App Functionality: 4.5/5

We don’t often mention New York mobile sports betting app ratings, as they can be misleading, dragged down since people are more likely to leave negative reviews than positive ones. But seeing a 4.7 rating in the App Store is a huge sign that customers are having a great experience here – both when it comes to mobile and online betting.

PointsBet actually makes a promise that it’s ‘2x faster than the competition’ – and we can’t really deny this. It’s a super quick app that’s intuitive and can have you scrolling through diverse menus and laying down bets in seconds.

This app passed our parlay building test, as we found that adding multiple bets to the same slip didn’t slow down the app in any way, though it was a bit clunky to review the bet in its entirety without scrolling. All in all, though, you can’t ask for much more in a sports betting app.

5. FanDuel — Best NY Sports Betting Site for Fantasy Sports

Pros:

  • Free bet of up to $1,000
  • Great live streaming options
  • Simple and foolproof interface
  • Epic fantasy sports offerings
  • Solid racebook + niche sports

Cons:

  • Very plain interface

Of all the recently launched online sports betting sites in New York, the most hype may have been for FanDuel, with its already industry-dominant daily fantasy sports offerings that have made betting more social – and more lucrative with millions of dollars of prize pools.

Their sportsbook is a natural continuation and finds the mark with great bet variety and a fantastic deposit bonus to get you in the door.

Sportsbook Variety: 4.5/5

NY sportsbook players looking for big and varied action across the NFL, NBA, and MLB will love the amount of futures and prop bets at FanDuel, as they’ve got arguably the highest amount in the business. If you’ve heard of a prop, it’s probably listed here.

Of course, there’s always going to be the standard straight bets, totals, and money lines here – including above-average offerings on more fringe markets like European soccer, rugby, and motorsports.

What we like, though, is the pricing. Usually, these big reputation plays don’t need to reduce juice to get players, but FanDuel is often found offering some of the best pregame sides and moneyline pricing in the business.

We found their live betting pricing to be industry-standard, though.

Bonuses and Promos: 4.5/5

New players at FanDuel get an up to $1,000 free bet. How does it work? Simply make your first wager and if you lose they’ll refund you the bet up to $1000. Call it a sportsbook freeroll.

This is one of the larger free bets in the business, and though the refund can’t be withdrawn right away, we love the fact that there are no annoying playthroughs. Any profits made from betting the refunded cash is yours to keep.

Horse racing lovers will also like the fact that there are promos for all the big national races.

We also noticed a higher than average number of promos targeting existing customers – their first basket prop promo, enhanced odds on NFL playoffs, and same game parlay boosts are some of the most diverse in the business.

Payments: 4/5

Right off the bat, we’re loving their min $10 deposit. This is a lower limit than most NY sportsbooks online, so if you’re a casual player or green beginner, FanDuel is a fine choice.

You’ll have a fairly standard, yet comprehensive list of payment options here, including Mastercard, Visa, PayPal, Venmo, and prepaid cards.

Expect fast payouts for e-wallets like Venmo and PayPal as well as prepaid cards (48 hours or less) while online banking cashouts take 3-5 business days.

There’s a slight annoyance for credit and debit card New York sports bettors, though. FanDuel doesn’t withdraw back to Visa and Mastercard, and instead offers checks in 7-10 days.

For this reason, we really recommend using Venmo or PayPal.

Mobile App Functionality: 4.5/5

We’re going to be real sticklers here. We’re not giving the FanDuel app full marks simply because they haven’t integrated fantasy sports and sports betting into a single app.

That said, there’s some crossover here, as our account’s fantasy activity clearly dictated what bets and promos were offered to us in the sportsbook app – a nice, convenient touch.

We’re also sure that having the sportsbook as a single app is the reason they can afford to pack in features, like the ‘Betting Training Camp’ tutorial optimal for new or casual bettors.

In all, this is a super smooth New York betting app that ran without lag, allowed us to select bets, and even add multiple wagers to the slip and execute buys with no problem.

Call it a perfect, more convenient replica of the desktop version.

How We Chose the Best New York Sports Betting Sites

Sportsbook Variety:

We’re not just looking for a NY online sports betting site that can offer a decent number of straight, spread, and totals bets – we’re looking deeper to see if there’s value to be had in the odds the online sports betting sites lay and also if there are unique, fun, and interesting bets that can’t be found anywhere else.

Online Sports Betting Bonuses and Promos:

First-time players only get one shot for a big bonus, so we’re making sure the offers are not only tops in the business from a quantity standpoint, but we’re reading the fine print to make sure they’re fair and not full of ifs, and’s, and but’s.

We also won’t rank New York sports betting sites unless they can guarantee consistent offers for existing players.

Payments:

There’s just no sense listing NY online sports betting sites that have put up barriers preventing players from getting their money on (and off) of their sites.

That’s why we’re looking for the best gambling sites and sports wagering platforms with a wide variety of deposit options and the staff to process cashouts quickly when you want to move money off.

That said, for now, New York betting sites don’t support cryptos – but we hope they will adopt this practice from the best Bitcoin casinos.

Mobile Sports Betting:

As mobile devices slowly replace desktop computers for online gambling, we’re making sure that our top picks double as sports betting apps and work seamlessly on phones, tablets, and other devices to maximize portability and fun.
