On November 12, 2022, Dave Chappelle hosted an exclusive NBC SNL afterparty at Richie Akiva’s The Ned NoMad hotel and members club, following his SNL appearance on Season 42. Joining Dave Chappelle were special guests, NY-based hip hop artist Busta Rhymes and R&B artist Miguel, who both performed during the party at The Ned’s Club Atrium, the space typically known as their jazz club. Many notables were in attendance along with the comedian’s friends and family, show producers and cast members. Per the policy at all Chappelle shows, phones were collected and locked upon arrival, so the photos shared in this piece are all that claim to exist. Inside the fete, bottles were popping, with tequila and champagne flowing all evening long, as the three superstars in their respective domains rotated on the mic for what can certainly be said to be an epic evening. Miguel serenaded the room with his incredible vocals and Busta rapped his classic beats as Chappelle watched on, enjoying his post-performance celebrations and ad libbing on the mic throughout the night, in true Chappelle form.
The Ned NoMad is part of Membership Collective Group (MCG), the parent company of Soho House, of which Ron Burkle sits as Executive Chairman. The first The Ned Nomad opened in the UK in 2018, and the first U.S. location for the hotel and members club, taking home in the historic NoMad district of Manhattan, debuted in late June of 2022.
Akiva, a notable player in hospitality and nightlife, both globally and centric to New York, was tapped to take on The Ned NoMad brand by MCG and has not only put The Ned on the map for New Yorkers, but has been hosting top-level VIP events and experiences since its inception bringing it much national and international attention. “The Ned” is already a household name thanks to Akiva. They recently partnered with The Box for a grandiose “Haunted Hotel” themed Halloween takeover with attendees inclusive of supermodels Irina Shayk, Taylor Hill and Emily Ratajkowski to NY Yankee players and the cast of the Gossip Girl reboot present at the bash, among many other bold-face names. From Vogue Magazine’s own Anna Wintour to British Vogue’s Edward Enninful, to New Jersey Nets star players like Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons, to Philadelphia Phillies Owner John Powers Middleton straight off the world series, to music artists like Drake, Robin Thicke and Diplo, the sophisticated backdrop of The Ned NoMad continues to dominate the NYC social scene, bringing added life to its NY home in NoMad district.
