The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window Is Back On Broadway After 50 Years

After its smashing success at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window is back on Broadway after nearly 60 years, with a strictly limited engagement through July 2, 2023.

Directed by Anne Kauffman, the award-winning cast (starring Oscar Isaac—in his Broadway debut—Rachel Brosnahan, Miriam Silverman, Gus Birney, Julian De Niro, Glenn Fitzgerald, Andy Grotelueschen, Raphael Nash Thompson, Joey Auzenne, Katya Campbell, Gregory Connors, Brontë England Nelson) expertly brings to life this final masterpiece from playwright Lorraine Hansberry, the first African American to have a play produced on Broadway. The creator of A Raisin in the Sun, Hansberry once again moves hearts and minds with her sweeping drama about identity, idealism, and love that is The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window

Now, after a sold-out run at BAM, the play comes to Broadway’s James Earl Jones Theatre, where theatergoers have a special opportunity to witness what the Chicago Tribune calls “the sexiest show on Broadway,” from one of America’s greatest playwrights. Topical for the social and political climate of modern times, The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window is a show that can’t be missed.

This is your last chance to get tickets to see the Tony Award®–nominated Best Revival of a Play, now through July 2 only at the James Earl Jones Theatre. Learn more and get tickets at thesignonbroadway.com

About the Play

Lorraine Hansberry (A Raisin in the Sun) invites us into Greenwich Village in the ’60s, crafting a razor-sharp portrait of a diverse group of friends whose progressive dreams can’t quite match reality. At the center are Sidney (Oscar Isaac) and Iris Brustein (Rachel Brosnahan), fighting to see if their marriage—with all its crackling wit, passion, and petty cruelty—can survive Sidney’s ideals.

Decades after her death, “Lorraine Hansberry’s play remains a powerful call to action. This imaginatively staged, passionately acted production does justice to her political vision” (Entertainment Weekly). Discover this “astonishing force” (Chicago Tribune) from one of America’s greatest playwrights, back on Broadway for the first time in decades.
