Mike Young, the long time touring partner to Bob Saget and known comedian, a former writer from Entourage and producer/director of various comedic films and TV shows with actors like Michael Rapaport and John Stamos, hosts a recurring comedy show Friday night at The Ned NoMad hotel and members club, which is helmed by notable hospitality leader Richie Akiva. This past Friday night’s show featured a pop-in performance surprise from SNL star Leslie Jones, and comedians of that level and stature are the norm for the weekly curated night.
Mike has developed a loyal following at the weekly comedy show which kicked off in the Spring. “Mike Young’s Night at The Ned” takes place weekly in the members’ Magic Room space, and is presented by Akiva. The next show is Sept 27th, moving to Wednesdays for Fall, and will be weekly on Wednesdays thereafter.
Past attendees and comedians have included recognizable lnames like Michael Rapaport, TJ Miller, Jeffrey Ross, Chris Rock, Robin Thicke, and many more. It is a favorite of the members and has become quite in-demand, with tables and seats booking up immediately each week. Mike always has a special guest list that non members can get on to attend as well. For members, they can sign up in their app for tables and bottle service to watch the show.
“Richie and I wanted to bring the feeling of old school, New York comedy to The Ned, and establish a weekly show where guests look forward to attending each week, with a familial environment, and just great comedy. Nothing is better than laughing, the world should laugh more. The intimate setting at The Ned is the perfect backdrop, with a feeling similar to exclusive New York City comedy club experiences. It has really been building into something special.” – Mike Young
The show takes place in The Magic Room, an exclusive feeling lounge complete with a beautiful wooden bar, featuring plush jewel toned velour seating, a red decor aesthetic, and ambient table lamps. It is the perfect setting for an intimate comedy show, complete with a stage, and a grand piano (which also features DJ equipment).
Attendees enjoyed custom cocktails, wine, beer and bottle service during the performance, and dined on cuisine from The Ned’s signature menu favorites such as their Cecconi’s pizzas and other pub style items.
The comedians who joined the lineup on Friday, Sept 15th, which I had the pleasure to attend, included the below names
The stellar lineup on September 15th included: Leslie Jones (SNL), Mike Young (Headliner and curator), Chanel Omari (Sirius host of Chanel and The City), Sienna Hubert Ross, Luke Mones, Seatom Smith, Zahid Dewji (Writer for The Tonight Show) and Sam Woolf (finalist on American Idol). Sam, a music artist, not a comedian, wowed the room with his pre-show performance.
Chanel Omari, stand up comedian, iHeart Radio podcast host of Chanel in the City and actress/Bravo TV Star, opened up the show following an intro bit by Sienna Hubert Ross who played MC for the night. Chanel Omari has opened up for Cedric the Entertainer, George Lopez, Wendy Williams and more.

Next up was a surprise set by SNL star Leslie Jones, capturing the crowd with a drop in. The comedic great had the laughter and everyone was talking about her set for the rest of the night. She jumped off stage and walked the room, getting more personal with the crowd, and landing her well received raunchy humor with the room.
She spent time delivering lines to Lorenzo Antonucci Jr, who is co-starring in the upcoming Danny A. Abeckaser directed flick set to film in NYC (once the strike allows), and recently starred with an arc in the final episodes of NCIS Los Angeles. Also at the next table was Nikita Dragon enjoying the comedy shows with some friends.
Mike Young, who had toured with talent like Sebastian Maniscalco, Dave Chappelle, and just played Mark Wahlberg’s charity event as special guest, has an upcoming Netflix special, and nationwide tour. He closed the show with his single-focused comedy bit that had the room in hard laughs.
Luke Mones, Zahid and Seatom Smith all had the room rolling in laughs as well.
The room was truly in laughter the entire time, and members from the main jazz club kept rolling in as they heard the buzz coming from the second floor of the hotel and members club.
Following the show, the room transformed into a nightspot filled with DJ tunes until 1am, and following that guests headed down to the main level jazz club, for a lively performance that went on until 3am.
Members can sign up for the Mike Young Comedy Night in the app or through The Ned online members portal, and hotel guests of the Nomad district destination may inquire for available seats to attend as well. Additionally, if you message Mike on instagram, perhaps you may be able to secure a spot as his special weekly guest, @therealmikeyoung.
