In her review of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, film critic Erin Maxwell asks the question, “How do you carry on a film franchise when the heart and soul of the story is gone?” She’s referring of course to Chadwick Boseman, who passed away from colon cancer in 2020, at age 43, two years after his starring role in Black Panther.
Maxwell goes on to report that the new installment in the franchise “starts by mourning the man. The film begins with the passing of King T’challa, acknowledging the very real loss so that the cast, the crew, and the fans can grieve together,” and adds, “To remember the fallen hero, there’s a special MCU opening scroll made up of images of Boseman.”
